CONDENSED VALUE

Material: Reclaimed plastic bags
Technique:
Compression molding, heat forming
Year: 2025
Status: WIP

Condensed Value is a project that explores the latent value of discarded plastic bags by transforming them into solid objects through compression and heat, while preserving their inherent “bagginess” and properties of gradual decomposition. Instead of melting or radically altering their composition, the process retains the material’s recognizable qualities, questioning conventional notions of worth and permanence.

In this project, form and function become secondary considerations; the main focus is to find new alternatives for using this seemingly disposable material and to explore its potential possibilities. Each object is embedded with a tracking system that records the provenance and quantity of the bags used, assigning a unique metric of value—for example, an object made from thirty 10-liter Walmart bags carries the cumulative volume of 300 liters.
